Kochi Prefecture covers the southern half of Shikoku facing the vast Pacific Ocean. Often called tropical, Kochi is blessed with a rich and beautiful natural environment as well as a warm climate all year round. The mountains are covered in lush green forests, and the Shimanto River is renowned as Japan’s only  remaining untouched waterway. The Port of Kochi is located in central Kochi Prefecture and is near some famous sightseeing spots of Kochi, such as Kochi Castle and Katsurahama Beach. Facing the open ocean, it offers easy access to large vessels. The Port of Sukumo is located at the West end of Kochi Prefecture.
