Port of Kochi
Outline
Port of Kochi is located at the central area of Kochi Prefecture in SHIKOKU Island which is in the south western part of Japan. It has the history that has been developed playing a pivotal role of traffic and/or commerce of Kochi Prefecture since the olden days. Mountainous areas are widely spread in the prefectural area and main cities are developed along the coastal line. Port of Kochi developed in front Kochi City, the capital of the prefecture. The port aims at promoting industries and/or economies of the region, securing the international logistics and interaction sites and so on. The construction of Kochi New Port had started in 1988, and the New Port with a deep berth partly opened in March 1998 as a multipurpose international terminal. The amount of container cargo volume grows smoothly. There are two weekly services of international container regular lines to the Port of Busan in South Korea now.
