CONTAINER PORT CAPACITY SHORTAGE:
Ø A capacity of 14 million TEUs is projected for Asia Pacific Region.
Ø Singapore has reached its capacity limit and Hong Kong is severely sited.
Ø Leam Chabang Port of Thailand and other Malaysian Ports are racing to fill the gap. Guan Yang port in Korea and Qing Dao in China are being expanded despite their proximity to Pusan and Shanghai. Vietnam, just across the China Sea from Subic, is also building a Port.
